Jonathan Friedrich Bahnmaier (born July 12, 1774 in Oberstenfeld , † August 18, 1841 in Owen ) was a German Protestant theologian and hymn poet .

Life

Bahnmaier was born the son of a pastor. He attended monastery schools in Maulbronn and Denkendorf and studied in Tübingen . In 1798 he became vicar ; 1802 repetent ; 1806 deacon in Marbach. In 1810 he came to Ludwigsburg , where he held courses for teachers and ran a school for wealthy women. In 1815 he became a professor for education and homiletics in Tübingen and founded a homiletic seminar . Wilhelm I sent him to Kirchheim as dean in October 1819 .
