Jordan Smith (born November 4, 1993 in Harlan County , Kentucky ) is an American pop singer. He won the ninth season of the American singing talent show The Voice .
biography
Jordan Smith grew up in a musical family: his father was a pianist and his mother is a singer. He attended Lee University in Cleveland , where he joined the well-known singing group The Lee University Singers , which performed in the Vatican and before the US President, among others. He became a solo singer, group leader and finally vice president of the ensemble.
In 2015 he successfully applied for the talent show The Voice . Thanks to his bright voice and his wide range, he was able to interpret songs by women and men and he became one of the favorites with his first performance of the song Chandelier by the singer Sia in the blind auditions . With his songs he made it into the single charts again and again during the course of the show and with three of his songs - Great Is Thy Faithfulness , Hallelujah and most recently Mary, Did You Know? - He also reached number one in the Hot Christian Songs , the special charts for church music. Smith easily reached the finals and eventually won the competition. The sampler released after the show with its contributions came in the US album charts at number 11. In terms of sales during the show, Jordan Smith was the most successful of all participants in the nine seasons of The Voice played to date .
