Jorge Maqueda Peño (born February 6, 1988 in Toledo ) is a Spanish handball player .

The 1.95 meter tall and 102 kg heavy right back player was under contract with HBC Nantes from the 2012/13 season ; He previously played for FC Barcelona from 2007 to 2009 and for BM Aragón from 2009 to 2012 . With Barcelona he played in the EHF Champions League (2005/06, 2006/07), with Aragón in the EHF Cup (2009/10) and with Nantes in the EHF Europa Cup (2012/13). From the 2015/16 season he was under contract with the Macedonian club RK Vardar Skopje . With Vardar he won the Macedonian Cup in 2016 and 2017, the championship in 2016 and 2017 and the 2017 EHF Champions League. In summer 2018 he joined the Hungarian club Pick Szeged . With Szeged he won the Hungarian Cup in 2019. In the summer of 2020, Maqueda switched to league rivals KC Veszprém .

With the Spanish national team , Jorge Maqueda was third at the 2011 World Cup . In 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games and took seventh place. At the 2013 World Cup in his own country, he became world champion. At the next European Championships he was third in 2014 and second in 2016 . He won the title at the 2020 European Championships and was also elected to the All-Star team.

So far, he has played 133 international matches in which he threw 333 goals.
