Jorge Pérez (born July 14, 1998 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican ice hockey player who has played for the Mayan Astronomers in the Mexican ice hockey league since 2017 .

Career

Jorge Pérez began his career as a hockey player with San Jeronimo. From 2013 to 2016 he was trained at Banff Hockey Academy and The Hill Academy in Canada. In the 2016/17 season he played for the Rayside-Balfour Canadians in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. He then returned to Mexico and has since played for the Mayan Astronomers , of which he is also the team captain.

International

At junior level Pérez was for the Mexican Under-18 selection at the U18 World Championships in 2014 , 2015 and 2016 in the Division III as well as the U20 selection at the World Championships Division III in 2014 , 2015 and 2016 and the Division II in 2017 and 2018 on the Ice. He was voted the best player of his team in the U20 championships in 2016 and 2017.

Pérez made his debut in the men's national team at the age of 17 in November 2015 in the pre-qualification for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . He later took part in the Division II World Championships in 2016 , 2017 and 2018 . He also represented his colors at the pan-American ice hockey tournaments in 2015 and 2017. He was able to win the tournament with the Mexicans in 2017 and in 2015 took second place behind Colombia .
