Joris De Loore (born April 21, 1993 in Bruges ) is a Belgian tennis player .

Career

De Loore started playing tennis when he was five. He trains with the Belgian Tennis Federation at Tennis Vlaandern .

On the Junior Tour he reached a quarter-finals in singles at Wimbledon 2011 and in doubles the semi-finals at the US Open in the same year. In the middle of the year he also reached his combined highest position of fourth place in the junior world rankings.

He made his first appearance on the professional tour in 2010. In 2011 he won his first tournament on the ITF Future Tour in doubles and finished his first professional year in 1188 in singles and 1241 in doubles. In singles, he made it into a future final for the first time in late 2012, while by the end of 2013 he had already won nine more doubles titles.

In 2013 things continued to improve for De Loore. He reached seven finals in futures of which he could only win one. After all, the successes brought him up to the top 400 in the world rankings . The Belgian achieved his highest ranking in doubles in mid-2013 with a 364th place. Participation in the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour was a long time coming. When he first took part in a tournament of this category, he immediately reached the quarter-finals in Mohammedia , where he recorded 300 places better and later tournament winner Pablo Carreño Busta failed in three sets. It was not until the end of 2015 that De Loore finally collected enough points on futures to permanently participate in the qualification for Challenger. He qualified first in São Paulo (out of the round of 16), Corrientes (out of the first round) and Andria (round of 16).

By the end of January 2016, De Loore had won four futures and thus 20 matches in a row - the first 15 matches even without submitting a set. Because of these successes he took part in challengers more often. In the semi-finals in Mestre , he defeated Dušan Lajović for the first time a top 100 player. In Liberec it was again only in the semi-finals. Due to his position, the Belgian was able to participate in the qualification of a Grand Slam at the US Open 2016 for the first time . There he lost to Ryan Harrison in round two . A week later he reached a Challenger final in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence for the first time, where he was defeated by Daniil Medvedev 3: 6, 3: 6. As a reward, De Loore was nominated for the first time against Brazil for the Belgian Davis Cup team , where he won the no longer relevant last game against Thomaz Bellucci . Along with two other Challenger semifinals, he finally got a wildcard for the ATP World Tour belonging European Open in Antwerp. There he was defeated by Taylor Fritz in three sets at the start. He finished the year in 184th place, almost 300 places higher than the year before.

In 2017 De Loore took part in the qualification of the Australian Open , where he lost to Jürgen Melzer .

He has not played a tournament since the Challenger tournament in Mouilleron-le-Captif in November 2018.
