José Guadalupe Martín Rábago (born October 12, 1935 in San Miguel El Alto , Jalisco , Mexico ) is retired Archbishop of León .

Life

José Guadalupe Martín Rábago was ordained a priest on July 22, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Tuscamia and auxiliary bishop in Guadalajara on April 15, 1992 . He was ordained episcopal on June 5th of the same year by the Archbishop of Guadalajara, Cardinal Juan Jesús Posadas Ocampo ; Co - consecrators were Manuel Pérez-Gil y González , Archbishop of Tlalnepantla , and Francisco Raúl Villalobos Padilla , Bishop of Saltillo . As a motto he chose Victoria Christi Spes .

He was appointed Bishop of León on August 23, 1995, and was introduced to the office on October 18 of the same year. With the elevation to the archbishopric on November 25, 2006 he was appointed Archbishop of León. On December 22, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
