Josef Feldkircher (also: Joseph, born March 3, 1812 in Andelsbuch , Vorarlberg ; † September 2, 1851 in Bamberg in the "Franconian Court") was an Austrian Roman Catholic priest and writer.

Life

Josef Feldkircher was born as the son of the Andelsbuch watchmaker Jodok Feldkircher. Feldkircher was a direct neighbor of the inventor Joseph Alois Fink . Because of his talents, he was prepared for a degree early on by the Andelsbuch chaplain, Georg Beer. From 1828 he attended a grammar school in Constance . From 1834 to 1840 he studied theology in Tübingen and was ordained a priest in Mainz in 1841 . On 26 May 1841 he celebrated in Andelsbuch his first Mass .

Feldkircher subsequently worked as a pastor in the diocese of Mainz . As chaplain in Heppenheim (June 1841), in St. Emmeran in Mainz (July 1842), in Mühlheim (October 1842), in Finthen (March 1844), in Gau-Algesheim (August 1844), in Weiskirchen (February 1846), in Lorsch (May 1846), in Heimersheim (August 1848) and in Hirschhorn (August 1849).

Josef Feldkircher was active as a writer and, in addition to sermons, wrote numerous poems , especially in Alemannic dialect.

Publications

A collection of poems by Feldkircher was printed in Tübingen (Bähr) in 1838. However, many of his poems were not published or only in connection with other works until 1877.
