Josef Holzmaier
Josef Holzmaier (born November 21, 1809 in Frauenchiemsee , † December 29, 1859 in Munich ; also Joseph Holzmayer ) was a German history painter .
biography
Josef Holzmaier first learned the trade of barrel maker . On June 25, 1831, he enrolled in history painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he became a student of Joseph Schlotthauer . Together with this he participated in 1834 in Milan in the production of detailed copies of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper . Mostly he created paintings with a religious content for Upper and Lower Bavarian country churches.
