Josef Nacken (born October 8, 1860 in Aachen , † May 25, 1922 in Eschweiler ) was a German politician (center).

Live and act

Nacken was born the son of a grocer . In his youth he attended the Kaiser-Karls-Gymnasium in Aachen. After studying law in Bonn , Innsbruck and Munich neck was as a court clerk at the District Court of Eschweiler and at the District Court and the District Court of Aachen operates.

Politically, Nacken began to be active in the Center Party during the Empire . From 1903 to 1918 Nacken was a member of the imperial Reichstag as a member of the constituency Aachen 2 (Eupen - Aachen-Land). After the November Revolution of 1918 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly, which met from January 1919 to June 1920 . He then sat until his death as a member of the constituency 23 (Cologne-Aachen) in the first Reichstag of the Weimar Republic . After that, Nacken’s mandate was continued by his party colleague Josef Sinn for the rest of the electoral term .

At the municipal level, Nacken was the mayor of Eschweiler and a member of the local council as well as a member of the district committee and deputy chairman of the Stolberg Chamber of Commerce for the Aachen, Düren and Jülich districts as well as a deputy member of the regional committee of the Prussian Chamber of Commerce . In addition, Nacken made a particular contribution to the development of the fire service: He became fire director, district fire supervisor and chairman of the Aachen district fire association.

In Nacken’s hometown Eschweiler, the Josef-Nacken-Weg named after him is a reminder of Nacken’s life and political work. Nacken was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Bavaria Bonn .
