Josef Porzer

Josef Porzer (born November 1, 1847 in Vienna ; † May 28, 1914 ibid) was an Austrian lawyer and politician who was Vice Mayor of Vienna from 1905 and Deputy Land Marshal of Lower Austria from 1913 .

Life

Josef Porzer studied law at the University of Vienna (1865–1869) and became a Dr. iur. A year later he was court and court counsel, in 1880 he became a member of the State Court. From 1895 until his death he was Vienna City Councilor, from 1905 second and from 1910 first deputy mayor. In various matters, such as the construction of the municipal gas works, the municipal agencies (peace offices ), the municipal central savings bank or the Vienna funeral, he was the legal advisor to the municipality of Vienna. From December 1902 Porzer was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament of the Christian Social Party and on February 23, 1913, he became the deputy land marshal of Lower Austria.

The founding of the Kaiser Franz Josef Life and Pension Insurance Company (later Wiener Wechselseiten Versicherung, today Wiener Städtische Versicherung ) and the municipal professional guardianship office go back to his initiative . Porzer was also the curator of the Landeshypothekenanstalt (today's Hypo Noe Group ), a member of the State Railway Council and long-time vice-president of the Catholic school association.
