Joseph LaBate (born April 16, 1993 in Eagan , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League since August 2018 and plays there on the position of the center .

Career

LaBate attended the Academy of Holy Angels , a high school in the state of Minnesota , until the summer of 2011 . After his time there, the center forward was selected in the fourth round in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks from the National Hockey League . First he enrolled for the next four years at the University of Wisconsin – Madison , where, in addition to his studies, he worked for the ice hockey university team, first in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and later in the Big Ten Conference , both divisions in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , played. With the team he won the division championship at the end of the 2012/13 season.

After LaBate graduated in spring 2015, he was signed by the Canucks in April, who used him for the rest of the season on their farm team , the Utica Comets , in the American Hockey League (AHL). The attacker also spent the entire 2015/16 season with the Comets , where he scored 21 points in 70 missions . After a successful start to the coming season, the American was appointed to the Vancouver NHL squad for the first time in late November 2016 and made his debut. After the 2017/18 season, his expiring contract with the Canucks was not extended, so he signed an AHL-limited contract with the Belleville Senators in August 2018 .
