Joseph Vu Duy Thông ( Vietnamese : Giuse Vũ Duy Thống ; born July 2, 1952 in Thái Bình ; † March 1, 2017 ) was a Vietnamese clergyman and bishop of Phan Thiết .

Life

The Archbishop of Ho Chi Minh City , Paul Nguyên Van Binh , ordained him a priest on October 26, 1985 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Ho Chi Minh City and titular bishop of Tortibulum on July 4, 2001 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Ho Chi Minh City, Jean-Baptiste Phạm Minh Mẫn , on August 17th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Paul Bùi Van Ðoc , Bishop of Mỹ Tho , and Joseph Ngô Quang Kiêt , Bishop of Lạng Sơn and Cao Bằng . As a motto he chose Tình yêu Chúa Kitô thúc bách tôi (The love of Christ urges us).

On July 25, 2009 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Phan Thiết and instituted on September 3 of the same year.
