Josphat Kiprono Menjo (born August 20, 1979 in Kapsabet ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

Life

The fifth of ten siblings went to school first in Kapkechui Primary and then in Chemundu Secondary . From 1998 onwards he helped his father on his corn farm while he waited to continue his education. In 2002 he signed up for the Kenyan armed forces . It was there that he took an interest in sports, and in 2004 he qualified for the national championships where he came third in the 5000 meters .

In 2006 he was at the African Athletics Championships in Bambous fifth over 5000 meters. The following year he won silver over the same distance at the 2007 Pan-African Games , was eighth over 10,000 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka and won the San Silvestre Vallecana .

From 2008 to 2010 he won the Cursa Bombers three times in a row. In his last victory so far, he missed the world record for 10 km by three seconds. In the fall, he finished second in the Portugal Half Marathon and won the Belgrade Run through history .

Josphat Kiprono Menjo is 1.80 m tall and weighs 61 kg. He is trained by Julius Kirwa and supervised by manager David Kibelion. One of his relatives is the successful marathon runner Josephat Kiprono . Menjo is married to his fellow runner Eunice Jepkorir .
