Jost Biedermann

Jost Biedermann (born January 1, 1922 in Borna ; † May 6, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

The son of a doctor attended elementary school and secondary school in Borna and the grammar school in Leipzig . He was drafted into the Wehrmacht for military service and was taken prisoner of war .

In 1946 he worked as an employee in the lignite mine and joined the CDU in the same year. From 1946 to 1952 he was chairman of the CDU district association Borna. From 1948 to 1950 he was deputy district administrator of the Borna district and in 1949 a candidate for the CDU in the elections for the German People's Congress. From 1950 to 1952 he acted as Lord Mayor of Borna and from 1952 to 1954 as chairman of the CDU district association in Leipzig. In 1952 he also became a member of the main CDU board.

From 1952 to 1963 he was a member of the CDU parliamentary group and Berlin representative of the People's Chamber. On December 17, 1952, he replaced the MP Alfons Fruhner.

In 1954 he went to Berlin to work for the CDU party leadership. Until March 1960 he was district chairman in Berlin-Friedrichshain. From January 1, 1960 to April 1964, he was city district councilor for trade and supply and deputy mayor in Berlin-Mitte. From March to October 1964 he was briefly secretary of the main board of the CDU, then again only a simple member of the main board. He then worked as an employee of the Minister for Guidance and Control of the District and District Councils , as well as an employee of the Office for Prices of the GDR. Since 1975 he has been a member of the Gera district council and head of the traffic and communications department and for recreation. In March 1985 he left his post for health reasons and returned to Berlin as a pensioner.

Biedermann had been a member of the Central Committee (Zentralvorstandes) of Volkssolidarität since May 1987 and deputy chairman since May 19, 1988. Since December 11, 1989, he has been running the organization on a voluntary basis as successor to Alois Bräutigam (together with Georg Ostermann). On May 26, 1990 he was finally appointed President of Volkssolidarität e. V. elected. He held this honorary position until March 2002.

The honorary president of People's Solidarity died at the age of 86.
