Jost Wischnewski (born June 28, 1962 ) is a German sculptor , installation and media artist . He lives in Worpswede and Düsseldorf .

Wischnewski studied photography and sculpture at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and was a master student of Klaus Rinke . After initially working with large sculptures that respond to urban space in the style of Robert Smithson , Wischnewski has recently started to grapple with public sign systems (traffic signals, signs, markings, street paintings), which he documents, systematically arranges and implements in video and photo works as well as in large-scale installations and sculptures in public space (project Hyperstätten , 2004, including in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, Rome, Paris).

From 1997 to 2008, together with the curator Karl Heinz Rummeny , he organized the free parking garage exhibition space in the historic park of the Düsseldorfer Künstlerverein Malkasten : 1997-2008 a total of 75 projects with regional and international artists and curators. a. with Joseph Beuys , Katharina Fritsch , Gilbert & George , Bruno Corà , Sylvie Fleury .
