Ju Reti ( Chinese 居 熱 提 , Pinyin Jū Rètí ; born September 19, 1983 ) is a Chinese snooker player .
Career
Ju Reti belongs to the Uyghur ethnic group and lives as a farmer in the autonomous region of Xinjiang in the northwest of the People's Republic of China . He has also been a passionate snooker player since childhood. At the Players Tour Championship 2012/13 , shortly after his 29th birthday, he took part in professional tournaments open to amateurs for the first time. At the third event of the season in Zhengzhou , he made it to the round of 16, defeating professional player Barry Pinches and then eliminating the eventual finalist Li Hang .
The following year, Ju won the Yixing Open with Mark Williams and Mike Dunn against two professionals. At the second tournament in Zhangjiagang he met a professional for the first time in the round of 16, he defeated Cao Yupeng and then moved into the final. With a final victory over Michael Holt , he became the first amateur snooker player to win a tournament for world ranking points. Then he reached the last sixteen at the Dongguan Open again after defeating two other professionals with Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon and Tian Pengfei . In the PTC overall ranking of the season, he finished 23rd and qualified for the Grand Finals in Preston, England . At his first tournament in Europe, he was eliminated in the first round against Judd Trump .
In the evaluation of the four Asian tournaments, Ju even took second place and was then given the right to start the Snooker Main Tour as the best amateur for the two following seasons . In the 2014/15 season , however, he did not take part in the professional tournaments for which he should have qualified in England. Instead, he took part in the Asian Tour again and reached the round of 32 at the 2014 Haining Open .
