Career

society

Juan Ramón Curbelo began his career in the youth of the Uruguayan club Centro Atlético Fénix . After very good performances in the youth team, he made the jump to the professional squad in early 2001 and established himself in the team immediately after a few games. There he won the Liguilla Pre-Libertadores with the team in 2003 . This qualified his club for the Copa Libertadores . In January 2004 he was signed by Standard Liège on loan for six months, where he met his compatriots Fabián Carini and Gonzalo Sorondo . He made his debut with the Belgians on January 31, 2004 in a 1-1 draw with Mons Bergen . At the beginning of September 2004 he signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional year. Then Curbelo moved back to Uruguay. He decided to work with the Uruguayan champions Nacional Montevideo . There he completed only one game in the first division within six months. Therefore, Curbelo left the club and moved to league competitor Danubio FC in January 2006 , where he did not come to much more stakes. After a year, he decided to move to River Plate Montevideo . There Curbelo became a regular again straight away. In August 2008, he moved back abroad, having previously played an encounter for River Plate Montevideo in the 2008 Apertura . This time he decided on an offer from the Mexican first division club Indios de Ciudad Juarez . At the end of the 2009/10 season , the club was relegated to the second division . After the missed resurgence in the 2010/11 season , Curbelo decided to return to Uruguay after a total of 88 league games for the Mexicans (five goals). In August 2011 he therefore moved to Montevideo Wanderers FC . He left the club at the end of the 2011/12 season after 22 season appearances, in which he was each in the starting lineup and in which he scored two goals. In mid-August 2012, he then signed a contract with his former club Nacional Montevideo. For the 2013/2014 season he was retired from coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena , under whom he, like the two previous Bolsos coaches, did not get a chance, and moved to Club Atlético Cerro . There he completed 23 games (one goal) in the Primera División in the 2013/14 season . In the Apertura of the 2014/15 season he was eight times in the league on the pitch (one goal). After the Apertura, Curbelo, whose contract with Cerro ran until July 2015, was suggested by the club to change. Further assignments in the 2015 Clausura did not follow. In mid-October 2015, he then joined the second division side Boston River , was used twelve times (no goal) in the 2015/16 season, which ended for the club with promotion.

National team

In early 2003, Curbelo was nominated for the Uruguayan national soccer team and came on March 28 in a friendly against the Japanese national soccer team to his first appearance for the national team when he came on in the 90th minute for Sebastián Eguren . On July 24, 2003, he came again to a short stint from the 90th minute in the 3: 4 away win. His third and last international match he completed - again as a substitute - on August 15, 2003 against the Iraqi selection.
