Judith Goldbach

Judith Goldbach (born July 21, 1981 in Böblingen ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass , composition ).

Goldbach, who grew up first in Altdorf and from 1986 in Schönaich , received instrumental lessons on piano from the age of seven, then on guitar, and later on electric guitar and bass guitar . After graduating from Albert-Einstein Gymnasium Böblingen in 2001, she discovered her passion for jazz and the double bass. After teaching with Karoline Höfler , she began her studies in 2003 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim with Thomas Stabenow . In 2008 she completed her studies with a diploma; She completed a subsequent master’s course in 2010.

Goldbach was a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Bernd Konrad from 2004 to 2006 . As a member of Peter Herbolzheimer's European Masterclass Big Band , she has performed with Ack van Rooyen , Herb Geller , Kenny Wheeler and Benny Golson in Europe and North America. In 2009 she founded her own band and has since led the Judith Goldbach Quartet, with whom she increasingly explores the sound worlds of Bartok .

She also belonged to the music cabaret duo Fräuleinjazz (with singer Sarah Lipfert ), the Tobias Becker Big Band , Bass to the power of three , the Kicks' n Sticks Big Band and Deuce . She also performed with the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Ensemble . She also worked in musical and ballet productions and a. at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and in the Alten Schauspielhaus Stuttgart . Goldbach can also be heard on albums by Gee Hye Lee and Christoph Neuhaus . She also works as a music teacher.
