Christoph Neuhaus (* 1986 in Stuttgart ) is a German musician ( guitar , composition ) who works in the field of jazz and pop music .

Neuhaus began studying jazz at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim with Frank Kuruc in 2006 after a long stay abroad in Sydney , which he continued in 2010 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Jesse van Ruller , Martijn van Iterson and Yaniv Nachum. This was followed by a master’s degree at the Basel University of Music with Wolfgang Muthspiel . Private study trips took him to New York City , where he took lessons from Peter Bernstein , Adam Rogers and Steve Cardenas .

In 2009/2010 Neuhaus was a member of the concert line-up of the European Masterclass Big Band under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer , in which he performed with Benny Golson , John Ruocco and Ack van Rooyen . In 2011 he recorded his debut album with a quintet under his direction; With his formations he was particularly active in southern Germany over the next few years. He was also involved in albums by Adrian Mears ' Generations Unit 2012 ( TCB Records ), the Tobias Becker Bigband , Anselm Krisch, Martin Meixner, Markus Harm and Gee Hye Lee .

Neuhaus leads his own bands and, in collaboration with the saxophonist Alexander Bühl, the German-French quartet “Byrn!”. He also plays and has played concerts with, among others, the SWR Big Band , the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra , Joo Kraus , Peter Freudenthaler , Ernst Mantel , Klaus Graf , Andreas Maile , Thomas Stabenow and Anne Czichowsky . He also took part in the musical Rocky at the Stage Palladium Theater in the SI Centrum Stuttgart.

Neuhaus also works internationally as a guitar lecturer; In 2012/13 he was teaching jazz guitar at the Freiburg University of Music . In 2014 he founded the Tuscany intensive jazz workshop with saxophonist Niko Seibold , which takes place annually.

In 2016 he received a scholarship from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation .
