The Jufinale is a youth film festival in Bavaria . The first edition of the festival took place in 1989 in Augsburg . Since then, there have been twelve events at changing locations where young people have been awarded the Bavarian Youth Film Prize. The Jufinale is a cooperation project between the JFF (Institute for Media Education in Research and Practice) and BJR (Bavarian Youth Ring) .
history
170 films were submitted for the first edition of the festival in the armory in Augsburg . Of these, 28 were selected and presented to around 300 visitors. In the following years the number rose to more than 600 films submitted. A total of 56 films were shown at the Jufinale 2012, and they were presented to an audience of around 1,000 visitors.
The Jufinale makes a significant contribution to ensuring that young filmmakers in Bavaria find favorable framework conditions to learn how to use the medium of film competently at an early stage. Since 1989, the changing of the venues by the different administrative districts has contributed to supporting and revitalizing the youth film scene in Bavaria and especially in rural regions.
The festival has a regional structure and extends over two years. In the first year, the regional competitions of the Jufinale take place in all seven Bavarian administrative districts and in Munich .
The regional festivals and sponsors
The regional festivals are held in different districts in Bavaria. The youth film festival flimmern & rauschen, which takes place in Munich, and the Mittelfränkische Jugendfilmfestival (JuFiFe) are also part of the Jufinale despite different names and the winners there take part in the nationwide Jufinale. Each district festival selects three to five award winners. The regional festivals sometimes take place annually (Munich, Middle Franconia and Lower Franconia) or every two years (Lower Bavaria, Upper Bavaria, Upper Palatinate, Upper Franconia, Swabia).
Since 1992 the festival has been supported by an artistic sponsor for two years. The first godmother was Marianne Sägebrecht . She was followed by Christian Wagner in 1994 , Udo Wachtveitl in 1996 , Michael Verhoeven in 1998 , Hans Peter Korff in 2000 , Caroline Link in 2002 , Franz Xaver Gernstl in 2004 , Günther Maria Halmer in 2004 , Doris Dörrie in 2008 , Rosalie Thomass in 2010 , Marcus H. Rosenmüller in 2012 and Elmar Wepper in 2014 .
