Ray Cory

Virgil Ray Cory (born March 30, 1894 in North Yakima , Washington , † March 15, 1968 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles , California ) was an American photographer and cameraman who was nominated for the Oscar for best special effects .

Life

Cory worked as a process photographer in 1944 on the production of the A. Edward Sutherland- directed war film Secret Command (1944) with Pat O'Brien , Carole Landis and Chester Morris in the lead roles and was co-starred with David Allen , Harry Kusnick for this film , Robert Wright and Russell Malmgren have been nominated for an Oscar for Best Special Effects. He then worked as a process and special effects photographer for four other film productions until 1945.

In 1952, Cory, who was also a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), began his career as a cameraman in the Hollywood film industry near Budapest does not answer (Assignment: Paris) by Robert Parrish with Dana Andrews , Märta Torén and George Sanders . He then worked on the production of over forty films and television series until 1961 .
