Juha Alén (born October 25, 1981 in Tampere ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who was active in the course of his career with Ilves Tampere in the SM-liiga and with the Dragons de Rouen in the French Ligue Magnus . With the Dragons he was French champion twice and won the IIHF Continental Cup in 2012 .
Career
Juha Alén started his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Koo-Vee , where he was active until 2000. He then spent a year with the U20 juniors of city neighbor Ilves Tampere . For the 2001/02 season, the defender went to North America, where he first played for a year for the Soo Indians from the North American Hockey League . He then took up studies at Northern Michigan University , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the 2003 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the third round as a total of 90 players by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , whereupon he dropped out and joined the organization of the Mighty Ducks. For their farm team Cincinnati Mighty Ducks he ran in the 2003/04 season in the American Hockey League .
In the summer of 2004, Alén returned to his former club Ilves Tampere, for whose professional team he played for two and a half years in the SM-liiga , the highest Finnish division, before ending the 2006/07 season with the Espoo Blues . In the 2007/08 season he scored two goals and one assist in 52 games for their league rivals Lukko Rauma . The following season he joined the Mora IK from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. For the team, he prepared eight goals in 45 games. In the 2009/10 season , the Finn stepped up for Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from the Austrian ice hockey league . At the end of the season, he and the team also won the Hungarian championship title . For the 2010/11 season he was signed by the Dragons de Rouen from the French Ligue Magnus . With the team, he immediately won the double of the championship title and Coupe de France . In the 2011/12 season he won the IIHF Continental Cup with the team at European level .
