Julia "Jules" Wierscher (born May 10, 1971 in Hanover ) is a German ice hockey player .
Career
Julia Wierscher only started ice hockey at the age of 22. Their first club was the then EC in Hanover , which stopped playing in 1998. She played for KEV Hannover in the 1998/99 season in the Bundesliga and switched to TuS Wiehl for the 1999/2000 season , with whom she reached the finals of the Bundesliga and ultimately took third place.
From 2000 until the middle of the 2005/06 season she played for the EC Bergkamener Bären , with whom she won the German championship in 2005 and the DEB Cup in 2006.
After she had ended her active ice hockey career in the 2005/06 season, she played again in December 2007 with the women's team of the Ratinger Ice Aliens , first at regional level in the Landesliga NRW, later in the 2nd North League. In 2013 she moved to the DEC Düsseldorfer Devils , with whom she was promoted to the 2nd North League in 2014. Other player stations were the EC Bergisch Land and the Bergisch Raptors Solingen .
International
With the German national team , Wierscher took part in the 2002 Winter Olympics , the 1999 , 2000 and 2001 World Championships , the 1996 European Championships and the Air Canada Cup in 2003 and 2004.
Wierscher scored the first Olympic goal in the history of the German women's national team in 2002. In total, she played 140 international matches, in which she scored nine goals and twelve assists.
As a trainer
Julia Wierscher studied pedagogy for teaching at the University of Hanover , but broke off her training after the first state examination to study sports science at the DSHS Cologne . She finished her studies first as a qualified sports scientist, later took her second state examination and now works as a teacher.
Julia Wierscher was the assistant coach of the German national team between 2006 and 2009 . She later worked as a junior coach at Düsseldorfer EG and looked after the women's team at EHC Dynamite Troisdorf together with Ruth Messerschmidt as co-trainer.
