Julius Finter

Julius Finter (born January 23, 1872 in Feuerbach ; † May 19, 1941 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Finter studied law and did his doctorate at Heidelberg University . During his studies he became a member of the Teutonia Heidelberg-Rostock Landsmannschaft . From 1900 to 1908 he was a judge in Mannheim , most recently as a district judge . In 1908 he was elected mayor of Mannheim, initially he was subordinate to Lord Mayor Paul Martin and from 1914 to Theodor Kutzer .

In 1919, the mayor of Karlsruhe , Karl Siegrist, no longer received a majority in the city council. Finter, now a member of the DDP , applied for the job advertisement and was elected with 91 out of 92 votes. During his tenure, the Dammerstock settlement, the Rheinstrandbad Rappenwört and the waterworks in Mörsch were built. In May 1933 he was forced to resign by the National Socialists .

Honors

The Technical University of Karlsruhe awarded Finter an honorary doctorate in 1928 and the city of Karlsruhe named a street after him.
