Julius Gremblich
Julius Gremblich (* February 28, 1851 as Josef Gremblich in Hall in Tirol ; † August 12, 1905 there ) was a k. u. k. Austrian Franciscan (OFM) , teacher and scientific collector.
Josef Gremblich came from a family of salt workers . He attended grammar school in Hall and entered the Tyrolean Franciscan Province in Salzburg in 1867 and received the religious name Julius. He finished high school in Bozen in 1870 . He then studied theology and natural sciences at the University of Innsbruck . In 1873 he was ordained a priest. From October 1873 he taught at the Franziskaner-Gymnasium in Hall as a teacher of natural history, mathematics and physics. In February 1874 he passed the teaching examination and then taught at the grammar school in Hall until his death. In addition to his teaching activities, he was interested in nature, especially geology and paleontology . In these areas he put on large collections. So he collected u. a. Mollusks , mostly recent forms. His fossil collection is now in the Geological Institute of the University of Innsbruck. He was also interested in botany and took care of the monastery garden, which he expanded.
