Julius Petersen (architect)

Julius Petersen (born June 16, 1883 in Hollmühle ; † April 6, 1969 in Braunschweig ; full name: Julius Peter Jacob Petersen ) was a German architect and construction clerk , as well as a professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

Life

After attending school in Flensburg, Julius Petersen studied first at the Technical University of Karlsruhe with Friedrich Ostendorf and Hermann Billing , then at the Technical University of Braunschweig with Hermann Pfeifer . During his studies in 1906 he became a member of the Karlsruhe fraternity of Teutonia . In 1915, after passing his exams, he was appointed government architect ( assessor in public construction). From 1924 to 1934 he was the town planner in Schleswig . In 1934 he was appointed full professor for building construction and agricultural building science at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Among other things, he dealt with farmhouse research and worked as an architect for many public buildings. Since 1943 he was a full member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society .

He retired on September 30, 1951, but continued to hold the chair until 1965. Petersen was a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA).
