Julius Seidler (born February 24, 1867 in Konstanz , † June 12, 1936 in Munich ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Seidler, son of a trader, was entered on October 20, 1890 under the number 705 in the register of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich as a student at Wilhelm von Rümann's school of sculpture . After a successful career, he became a professor at the academy himself.

From 1892 he worked as a sculptor mainly in Munich, where he lived until his death. His sculptural works, but especially his architectural sculptures, in which he had specialized, corresponded primarily to the “typical Munich style”. But works by him can also be found in other parts of Germany. On some buildings he worked with the architect Max Littmann , e.g. B. at the Kurtheater Bad Kissingen (1905) or at the Weimar Court Theater (1907).

His brother Hermann Seidler (1863–1935), who was four years older than him, stayed in Konstanz as a painter and ceramist.
