Julius von Niethammer

Julius Adolf Niethammer , from 1830 von Niethammer , from 1876 Freiherr von Niethammer (born August 21, 1798 in Jena , † June 23, 1882 in Munich ), was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of Friedrich Immanuel Niethammer , Julius von Niethammer attended the (today's) Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich until 1814 . He then studied law in Jena, Landshut , Erlangen and Heidelberg . During his studies in 1816 he was one of the founders of the Teutonia Erlangen fraternity and in 1817 a member and head of the old Heidelberg fraternity . In 1819 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . In 1826 he became a member of the government and was honorary professor for political science at the University of Munich until 1838 . In 1837 he became the hereditary Imperial Councilor of the Crown of Bavaria . From 1849 to 1881 he was first secretary of the Chamber of Imperial Councils . In 1848 he was a member of all major legislative committees. In 1857 he became the first chairman of the Agricultural Association in Bavaria . In 1830 he was ennobled and in 1876 raised to the status of hereditary baron . He was a member of the Munich Academy of Sciences .
