The Krems Prison is a judicial prison belonging to the regional court of the Lower Austrian city ​​of Krems . The prison is one of two detention facilities in the municipal area of ​​the statutory city of Krems, as the Stein Prison also exists there as a penal institution.

As a court prison, the prison is responsible for the admission of male and female prisoners whose total term of detention does not exceed 18 months and for the accommodation of prisoners on remand for the court district. The prison has a total capacity of 120 places. As of August 30, 2007, 107 of them were occupied, corresponding to a total occupancy rate of 89.17%.
