Graz-Jakomini Prison
The Graz-Jakomini Prison , also known as the Graz Regional Court Prison, is a judicial prison in Jakomini , the 6th district of the Styrian capital Graz . The prison is part of the regional court for criminal matters . As a prison, the prison is the second largest court prison house and the fourth largest penal institution in Austria . The Paulustorgasse branch is still located within Graz-Innere Stadt .
When the regional court for criminal matters was established between 1890 and 1895, the prison complex was set up in the south and east of the building.
Conception
Up to 443 prisoners can be accommodated on a total area of around 26,000 m², of which around 10,500 m² are built on . In the Paulustorgasse branch there is also a capacity for 70 inmates. As of August 30, 2007, 484 people were imprisoned in Graz-Jakomini, which corresponds to a total occupancy rate of 94.35%. This makes the Graz-Jakomini Prison one of the least busy prisons in Austria.
In the prison can remand prisoners , prisoners with a total prison term of up to 18 months as well as custody and detainees are housed. These prisoners are held separately in their own sections. There are departments for male adults, female adults, young adults and a separate youth department. In addition, a distinction can be made between first execution , execution of negligence, execution of discharge, relaxed execution and normal execution . The execution of administrative and financial administrative offenders is partly carried out in the Graz-Jakomini prison.
A mother-child department and a school for the young inmates run in cooperation with the Ellen Key special education center can be regarded as special facilities . In addition to this school education, the prisoners can also choose from an apprenticeship in 12 possible professions.
