history
The Inner City is the 1st district of Graz . It is the part that contains the historic old town with the castle hill and the city park. It is bounded by the Mur between Radetzkybrücke and Keplerbrücke , Wickenburggasse, Glacis, Jakominiplatz and Radetzkystraße. In 1999 the city center became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site City of Graz - Historic Center and Eggenberg Palace, due to its unique preservation of the historical buildings . Although the center is largely a pedestrian zone, the city administration, shopping centers and street markets, museums and galleries, and countless restaurants with the popular outdoor dining areas are also in the inner city, through which all Graz tram lines run. This makes the inner city one of the busiest and busiest districts of Graz.
