Hans-Joachim Rüscher

Hans-Joachim Rüscher (born July 1, 1928 in Halle (Saale) ; † January 16, 2015 ) was a German party and economic functionary ( SED ) in the GDR .

Life

Rüscher, the son of a worker, started a commercial apprenticeship at the Krause company in Halle after attending primary school . In 1944 he was drafted by the Wehrmacht and subsequently took part in the Second World War. From May to October 1945 he was in Soviet captivity .

After his return from captivity, he finished his apprenticeship and worked until 1948 as a commercial clerk at the consumer market in Halle. After retraining in 1949, he worked as a lathe operator at VEB Kühler- und Gerätebau Halle until 1954 . Rüscher joined the Free German Youth in 1947 and the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in 1951. From 1954 to 1957 he was first an instructor and then department head of the SED city administration in Halle. From 1957 to 1958 he studied at the Ballenstedt district party school and was then an instructor for the SED district leadership in Halle until 1960 .

In 1960 began his twenty-six years in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the SED . Until 1964 he acted as an instructor in the department of party organs of the Central Committee of the SED. Between 1961 and 1968 he completed a distance learning course at the party college "Karl Marx" , which he graduated with a degree in social science. In 1964 he was head of the party organs department and in 1965/66 head of the working group for district economic councils at the Bureau for Industry and Construction of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED . From 1966 to 1972 Rüscher was deputy head and from November 1972 to 1986 - as the successor to Gerhard Briksa , who had risen to ministerial position - head of the light, food and district-managed industry at the SED Central Committee. In 1986 he retired early and lived in Berlin.

Rüscher died after a long and serious illness at the age of 86.
