location
The protected area is a juniper heather that is about 800 meters east of Altoberndorf on a southern slope of the Neckar valley . The protected area belongs to the Obere Gäue natural area and is part of the FFH area No. 7717-341 Neckar Valley between Rottweil and Sulz .
Protection purpose
According to the ordinance, the main protection purpose is to maintain the protected parts
- as a habitat for a flora and fauna typical of the upper Neckar valley with rare and partly endangered animal and plant species;
- as a landscape shaped by humans, with a special character and beauty.
Flora and fauna
The protected species in the area include three types of gentian ( spring gentian , German fringed gentian , common fringed gentian ) and six types of orchid ( mosquito fringed gentian , hornless horn , bee ragwort , fly ragwort , bumblebee ragwort , and white wood bird ). The Common Columbine can also be found. The bushes of the juniper heather serve as a breeding ground for the red- backed shrimp.
