Kate Alving
Käte Alving (born November 26, 1896 in Hamburg ; † December 8, 1974 ) was a German actress , radio play and voice actress .
Life
Käte Alving received acting lessons from Ella Groeger in Hamburg and from Ilka Grüning in Berlin . Then she went to the Niederdeutsche Bühne Hamburg , later the Ohnsorg Theater, and gave numerous guest performances in northern Germany.
In 1924 she joined Richard Ohnsorg's ensemble as a spokesperson for the Nordische Rundfunk AG , which was founded in Hamburg in May of the same year. Here she was mainly heard in Low German radio plays (then called broadcast games).
As an acting teacher, she and her colleague Hans Langmaack taught the young Heidi Kabel, among others .
From 1936 guest performances followed, after the outbreak of the Second World War also permanent engagements in Berlin. a. at the Volksbühne , the Deutsches Theater , the Hebbeltheater and the Theater am Kurfürstendamm .
In addition to her stage activities, she also worked in film, radio and television productions. Käte Alving played in several DEFA films, such as ... and if it were only one '... (1948), Das Beil von Wandsbek , directed by Falk Harnack (1951) and Die Meereruf (1951).
