Käthe Rülicke-Weiler (born May 31, 1922 in Leipzig ; † September 7, 1992 in Berlin ) worked as a dramaturge and film and television scholar in the GDR .

In 1948 she joined the SED . From 1948 to 1950 she studied cultural studies in Leipzig and in 1950 became a member of Brecht's Berliner Ensemble . From 1951 to 1956 she was involved as an assistant director and dramaturge in many theater productions by Bertolt Brecht. In 1955 she developed a concept for amateur theater from her staging of the play "Hans Pfriem or Kühnheitt sich aus" by Martin Hayneccius . From her notes of conversations with the stove maker and hero of the work Hans Garbe, Brecht developed the unfinished drama fragment "Büsching-Fragment", which greatly influenced the young playwright Müller when he wrote his 1957 play "Der Lohndrücker".

After Brecht's death, she initially worked as a freelance dramaturge. From 1961 she worked at the Institute for Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the SED, where she received her doctorate in 1965 with the dissertation “The Dramaturgy of Brecht, Theater as a Means of Change”. She then became chief dramaturge in the main dramatic art department at German television , the GDR's state television. From 1967 to 1982 she worked at the University of Film and Television Potsdam , since 1971 as a professor.
