history

Godorf Mill

The first historical mention as Gudegedorp comes from the year 1173, but archaeological finds indicate a settlement in the Roman and the Frankish times.

A first mill can be documented since 1197. In 1735 a mill from Brühl built a mill; the successor building erected in 1849 (Dutch windmill with a circular gallery) is today the landmark of the district. Since 1988 the Godorf landmark has been restored on the initiative of the Schmitz family. The courtyard next to the mill dates from the 19th century.

Politically, Godorf belonged to the office of Brühl in the Electorate of Cologne since the Middle Ages . In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the place and Godorf was now part of the Mairie Rondorf in the canton of Brühl . Since 1816 Godorf belonged to the mayor's office of Rondorf or Rodenkirchen. The incorporation to Cologne took place in 1975.
