Kommlitz (Rackwitz)
Kömmlitz is a modern deserted village , the south from Delitzsch found and with its neighboring Schladitz 1986-1990 the lignite mining by open pit Breitenfeld fell victim. Today the corridor is east of the Schladitzer See and belongs to the municipality of Rackwitz in the district of North Saxony (Free State of Saxony ). The Rackwitz district of Neu-Schladitz was built east of the old locality .
Geographical location
Kömmlitz was located in the Leipzig lowland bay between Delitzsch in the north and Leipzig in the south. The corridor of the former village of Kömmlitz lies between the Schladitzer See (former remaining hole of the open pit mine) in the west and the corridor of Schladitz in the east. The settlement of Neu-Schladitz, created by the resettlement of the residents, is located between the old location of Schladitz in the west and Rackwitz in the east.
history
Kömmlitz on the road from Delitzsch to Leipzig, like the neighboring town of Schladitz, belonged to the electoral office of Delitzsch until 1815 . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , both places became part of Prussia and in 1816 were assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony , to which they belonged until 1952.
On April 1, 1936, Kömmlitz was incorporated into the neighboring village of Schladitz to the east . In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Schladitz with its district Kömmlitz was assigned to the newly cut district Delitzsch in the district of Leipzig . With the opening of the Breitenfeld opencast mine in 1981/82 , the future of Schladitz and Kömmlitz became uncertain. In the mid-1990s, the opencast mine should reach the area of both places. For this reason, the 600 residents of Schladitz and Kömmlitz were resettled from 1986/87 to the newly founded settlement "Neu-Schladitz" near Rackwitz further east. While the 800-year-old church in the Schladitzer Flur in the desert of Buschnau was dredged over, the devastated areas of Schladitz and Kömmlitz were spared this fate due to German reunification in 1989/90 and the resulting sudden reduction in lignite demand. Due to the early shutdown of the Breitenfeld opencast mine in 1991, the planned excavation was no longer carried out.
Kommlitz today
The corridor of Schladitz and Kömmlitz belonged to the municipality of Rackwitz after the devastation of the places from 1989. A residential park was built in the Neu-Schladitz housing estate belonging to Rackwitz. In 1998, the flooding of the open pit hole in Breitenfeld began, creating the Schladitz Lake named after Schladitz, which has been used as a swimming lake since 2003. The devastated settlement areas of Schladitz and Kömmlitz to the southeast of the lake have been recultivated. A water sports center was built in the “Schladitzer Bay”.
