Loess (Schkeuditz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lössen is a modern desert that was located south of Delitzsch and fell victim to brown coal mining by the Breitenfeld open-cast mine in 1985 . Today the corridor is in the Schladitzer See and belongs to the town of Schkeuditz in the Saxon district of northern Saxony .

Geographical location

Schladitzer See

Lössen was in the Leipzig lowland bay between Delitzsch in the north and Leipzig in the south. The corridor of the former village of Lössen was originally located on the natural course of the Lobers east of Wolteritz . Today it is located in the northern part of the Schladitzer See.

history

The dead end village of Lössen am Lober was first mentioned in a document as Wlozne at the end of the 12th century . This word is derived from the Old Sorbian Vlozno , which means "moisture". Like the neighboring town of Wolteritz, Lössen belonged to the electoral Saxon office until 1815 and from 1806 to the royal Saxon office of Delitzsch . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952. In 1875, Lössen had 140 inhabitants.

With the opening of the Leipzig-Delitzsch-Bitterfeld railway line, which ran two kilometers to the east, in 1859 , Lössen had an indirect rail connection. It was only with the expansion of the Delitzscher Kleinbahn in 1929 that Lössen was given a direct stop near the town. The breakpoint was later renamed "Wolteritz" and existed until the section was closed in 1970.

On July 1, 1950, Lössen was incorporated into the neighboring village of Wolteritz to the northwest. In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Wolteritz and its district of Lössen were assigned to the newly cut district of Delitzsch in the Leipzig district.

The opening of the opencast mine in Breitenfeld began in 1981/82, which made the future of the place uncertain. Lössen was threatened with the same fate as Wolteritz, which was located in the mining area of the Delitzsch-Südwest opencast mine opened in 1975/76 . In 1985, the Breitenfeld open-cast mine reached the local area of Lössen from a south-westerly direction. The village was relocated and devastated in the same year , the demolition took place in 1988. The same fate met the 800-year-old church in the Buschnau desert between Lössen and Schladitz .

Loosen today

The neighboring town of Wolteritz was spared resettlement and demolition due to the German reunification in 1989/90 and the resulting sudden reduction in lignite demand. Due to the early shutdown of the Breitenfeld (1991) and Delitzsch-Südwest (1993) opencast mines, the planned relocation and devastation of Wolteritz was no longer carried out.

Since the merger of Wolteritz with Freiroda and Radefeld on March 1, 1994, the corridor of Lössen has belonged to the new municipality of Radefeld in the Delitzsch district . With the incorporation of Radefeld into the city of Schkeuditz, Flur Lössens belonged to Schkeuditz since January 1st, 1999. In 1998, the two remaining opencast mining holes around Wolteritz began to be flooded, which means that the old location of Lössen is now in the north of the Schladitzer See.
