KILL la KILL ( Japanese キ ル ラ キ ル , Kiru ra Kiru ) is a Japanese anime and manga series.

action

Cosplayer as Ryuko Matoi

The Honnouji Academy (本能 字 学園 Honnōji Gakuen) in Tokyo on the island of Honnō City is dominated by its fearsome student council under the direction of Satsuki Kiryuin (鬼 龍 院 皐 月, Kiryūin Satsuki ) . Her students wear Goku uniforms, which give those who wear them superhuman abilities because they are made from a special material known as thread of life. Ryuko Matoi (纏 流 子, Matoi Ryūko ), who wields a scissors-shaped long sword that can cut Goku uniforms, challenges council as she searches for her father's killer. Although she is easily defeated by Takaharu Fukuroda at the beginning, she finds a sentient sailor's uniform, which she calls Senketsu (in German: fresh blood ), a Kamui (神 衣). This consists entirely of the thread of life so that she can face Kiryuin and her trials and obstacles. She is friends with her hyperactive classmate Mako Mankanshoku and lives with her family. As Satsuki reorganizes the allocation of Goku uniforms through the sanction elections, Ryuko faces the members of Satsuki's Elite Four, who wear powerful three-star Goku uniforms, in a series of duels. Their final fight is interrupted by Nui Harime, the winger of the other scissor blade and the murderer of Ryuko's father. In the battle that follows, Ryuko turns into an uncontrollable monster.

With the Tri-City Schools Raid, Satsuki is annexing the large schools in other regions of Japan and suppressing Nudist Beach (ヌ ー デ ィ ス ト ・ ビ ー チ), a paramilitary organization under the direction of Ryuko's class teacher Aikuro Mikisugi. She organizes a festival that will host her mother Ragyo, the director of the academy and CEO of REVOCS Corporation (REVOCS コ ー ポ レ ー シ ョ,), a clothing manufacturer that dominates the global market. Mikisugi shows that the Life Fibers woven into all REVOCS clothing are actually alien parasites that devour those who wear them. As they devour the festival audience, Satsuki turns on her mother, revealing her ultimate goal of destroying Ragyo. But the rebellion is short-lived as Ragyo fused with the strings of life to gain immense power. Ragyo recognizes Ryuko as her own daughter and Satsuki's younger sister, who survived the abortion of a life thread experiment and was secretly raised by Ragyo's missing husband, Isshin Matoi.

A month later, Ragyo and the Covers ravaged Japan and captured Satsuki, leaving the Elite Four with no Goku uniforms and forcing them to go into hiding with Ryuko and the others on Nudist Beach. When they rescue Satsuki, Ragyo captures Ryuko and brainwashes her to fight her. After Ryuko breaks free, she and Satsuki challenge Ragyo. They want to use a space satellite to order all threads of life to consume their human hosts and ignite the earth to spread the fibers of life throughout the universe. After Ragyo detaches the satellite transmitter and blasts the cocoon with the original thread of life, she absorbs Nui and flies into space to manually activate the satellite, but Ryuko chases Ragyo and defeats her, losing the thread of life clothing. After the battle, Senketsu sacrifices himself and burns himself on re-entry into the atmosphere to bring Ryuko back to Earth.

In another OVA episode, Ragyo's secretary Rei Hououmaru disrupts the graduation ceremony of the Honnouji Academy by creating doppelgangers of Satsuki and the Elite Four with the leftover threads of life. However, they are defeated by Ryuko, the real Elite Four and Nudist Beach, and Satsuki convinces Rei to give up their fight. Honnouji Academy closes during the fall of Honnō City, and everyone leaves to lead normal lives.

Characters

Ryuko Matoi

Ryuko Matoi is the heroine of the story. She is the daughter of the scientist Isshin Matoi and was sent by him as a child to the boarding school of various elementary, middle and high schools. She is usually comfortably dressed, has blue eyes and black hair, with her trademark being a strand of red in the area of her forehead, and she carries a guitar case with her scissors blade in it. After meeting Senketsu, she mostly carries him and her scissors blade shrinks her to a manageable size. At night she wears pajamas with a rabbit print that Mako has lent her.

At first Ryuko has problems to fight with Senketsu, because she finds his fighting form, in which he becomes a very tight outfit, too embarrassing and therefore closes herself off from him. When she manages to accept him as her second skin, she is able to use all of his power with minimal blood loss.

Mako Mankanshouko

Mako is Ryuko's best friend and a zero star student. She has blue eyes and a brown hairstyle. Mostly she wears the usual zero-star uniform of the Honnouji. She lives with her family in the slum of Honnou City around the Honnouji Academy. She is a little over-the-top and can get enthusiastic about things quickly, but is always 1000% (one thousand percent) behind Ryuko, because she is not only her best, but also her only friend. She loves her mother's enigmatic croquettes and is known to eat her packed lunch at the start of class and then sleep unnoticed behind a book until break. Her trademark are the alleluia moments ; in which she crosses her wrists and receives her own spotlight and then begins to explain the situation in quick language and various gestures and to give Ryuko food for thought.

As the president of the beating club, she receives a two-star Goku uniform which looks like a typical delicacy outfit. But she destroys it again when she realizes how negatively the luxury of two-star life affects her family.

Satsuki Kiryuin

Satsuki is the president of the Honnouji Academy's student council and heads the elite four. She has blue eyes, long black hair and mostly wears the Kamui Junktesu together with her black sword Bakuzan which, like Ryuko's scissors, can damage Goku uniforms and even Kamuis. She is very strict and developed the Honnouji system. She has great ambitions and has mastered her Kamui before Ryuko as she shed her shame for her goals. Quote: "I would even bare my breasts to fulfill my ambitions" .

Her mother is the CEO of REVOCs, the fashion designer, model and scientist Ragyo Kiryuin.
