location

The community is a southern suburb of Flagstaff and is west of Mountainairie on Interstate 17 (Arizona veterans Memorial Highway, Flagstaff-Phoenix) and Arizona State Route 89 in the upper valley of Oak Creek at an altitude of 2,065 m. The community area covers 3.7 km². The interstate limits the community to the east, while it is surrounded by forest to the south, west, and north.

Surname

The place is named after a term from the culture of the Hopi Indians: Kachinas are originally supernatural spirits and gods of the Hopis; the term was carried over to dancers of the Indian people who come into contact with these beings in appropriate ceremonies and to dolls that represent these beings.

history

The area was part of a large ranch owned by a certain Dr. RO Raymons, who practiced as a doctor in Flagstaff in the early 19th century. Later the land was parceled out and made available for settlement. Kachina Village is the starting point for several hiking trails through the area's large forest areas.
