Kaddour "Kad" Merad (born March 27, 1964 in Sidi bel Abbès , Algeria ) is a French film actor and screenwriter .

Life

Kad Merad's father is Algerian and his mother is French. He has two brothers and a sister. After starting out as an entertainer at Club Med and as an actor at the theater, Merad joined the Paris radio station Ouï FM in 1991, where he met Olivier Baroux . The two formed the comedy duo Kad et Olivier and together made several successful radio formats and TV shows.

After several small roles, Mais qui a tué brought Pamela Rose? , for which he also wrote the screenplay with Baroux, his breakthrough in the film business in 2003. This was followed by roles in various dramas and comedies such as The Children of Monsieur Mathieu , Birds of the Sky and Can That Be Love? In 2007 he was awarded for his performance in the film Do not worry, I'm fine to César for Best Supporting Actor. The comedy Willkommen bei den Sch'tis , in which Merad played a leading role, became the most successful French film of all time with over 20 million viewers.
