Kai Metzger (born November 2, 1960 in Düsseldorf ) is a German writer .

Life

Kai Metzger did community service in a psychiatric clinic after graduating from high school. He then studied at the University of Düsseldorf , among others with Jochen Hörisch . He worked in production, building cleaning, gastronomy, childcare and yacht transfer. In addition to his literary work, he writes essays and reports for radio and magazines , including regularly for the yacht . In March 2016 he took part as helmsman in the transfer of the Sea-Watch-2 ; in August 2016 on rescue operations off the Libyan coast.

Metzger has lived with the philosopher Monika Boll since 1980.

From 1983 onwards, Metzger published short stories in numerous anthologies , such as the Rowohlt - Panther series and the KiWi anthologies Feindschaft (1989) and The Time After (1991).
