Kale ( Turkish for castle ) is a town and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Malatya . Kale County is located in the southeast of the province and borders the Diyarbakır and Elazığ provinces . 2080 people live in the city of Kale and 6874 people in the entire district (as of 2008).

The earlier name is associated with the Aramaic mountain name İzala / İzlô , which makes up the south of the Tur Abdin .
