Rolando Kaligaro (born March 22, 1976 ) is a former Slovenian skier who was active in Nordic combined and ski jumping .
Career
Nordic combination
Kaligaro began his international career as a Nordic combined skier. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1996 in Asiago , Italy , he won the bronze medal together with Igor Cuznar and Roman Perko behind the teams from Norway and France . For the 1996/97 season he finally started in the B-World Cup of Nordic Combined. He got a total of 22 points and 45th place overall.
Ski jumping
Already at the end of the 1996/97 season Kaligaro switched to the special jumpers. On March 22, 1997 he made his ski jumping debut in Planica in the ski jumping world cup . In both ski flying World Cups, however, he remained without points. For the 1997/98 season Kaligaro started in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . In his first season there he achieved a total of six points and thus 127th place overall. In the 1998/99 season he made it to 29th place in the overall Continental Cup ranking with a total of 375 points. On January 16, 1999 he started again in the World Cup and just missed the points in Zakopane as 33rd. In the second competition on the same hill as well as in the two subsequent World Cups in Sapporo , however, he was beaten again beyond the best 40.
For the 1999/2000 season Kaligaro was able to increase his performance again and reached ninth place in the overall ranking with 533 points. He achieved his first podium on Suicide Hill in Ishpeming behind Dirk Else and Dennis Störl in February. Then he came back to the World Cup. Previously, he had just missed the points in Engelberg again.
At the team world cup in Lahti he reached sixth place together with Damjan Fras , Peter Žonta and Bine Norčič . In the following two individual competitions, he again only landed in the rear and was eliminated after round one. Since he again failed to score points in the individual World Cup, he started again in the Continental Cup for the 2000/01 season . However, he could no longer build on the good performance of the previous season. In the end, with 82 points, it was only 104th place overall. His last season 2001/02 , in which he only achieved 222nd place overall, was even worse .
After the end of his active career, Kaligaro started as a ski jumping coach at his home club.
