From their terrace there is often an excellent view of the Upper Rhine Plain to the foothills of the southern Odenwald and the northern Black Forest . history

A commemorative plaque below the Kalmithaus indicates a shelter built in 1882 by the Palatinate Beautification Association. The first hut managed by the local Ludwigshafen association of the Palatinate Forest Association was inaugurated in 1908. After the Second World War, the Kalmit and thus the hut is occupied by French troops. After lengthy negotiations, the smelter was released on October 11, 1953 and then put back into operation in 1955. After receiving a larger amount from the War Damage Office and topping up with donations, a completely new hut can be built in 1957. On November 13, 1981, the front part of the hut was completely destroyed by a gas explosion. After the reconstruction, the current Kalmithaus was inaugurated on June 12, 1983.
