Kami-Amakusa ( Japanese 上天 草 市 , -shi ) is a Japanese city in Kumamoto Prefecture on the Amakusa Islands .
history
The city was founded on March 31, 2004 through the amalgamation of the communities Himedo ( 姫 戸 町 , -machi ), Matsushima ( 松 島 町 , -machi ), Ōyano ( 大 矢野 町 , -machi ) and Ryūgatake ( 龍 ヶ 岳 町 , -machi ) des Amakusa County established.
