Kana Ichikawa ( Japanese 市 川 華 菜 , Ichikawa Kana; born January 14, 1991 in Toyota ) is a Japanese sprinter .

Athletic career

For the first time Kana Ichikawa made an international appearance at the Junior World Championships 2010 in Moncton . There she took eighth place over 200 meters in 24.09 s and was eliminated in the preliminary round with the 4-by-100-meter relay and with the 4-by-400-meter relay. In 2011 she reached the final at the Asian Championships in Kobe over 100 meters, but did not appear there again. At the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen , she was eliminated in the quarter-finals over 100 meters in 12.00 s. In 2012 she was part of the Japanese 4 x 100 meter relay for the Olympic Games in London , in which the Japanese were eliminated in the preliminary round with 44.25 seconds . In 2013 she won the silver medal with the relay at the East Asian Games in Tianjin .

In 2014 she took part in the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas , but could not qualify for the final there. In October she took part for the first time in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , where she won the silver medal with the 400-meter relay behind the team in 3: 30.80 minutes and bronze with the 4-by-100-meter relay in 44, 05 s. In 2015 she was disqualified at the IAAF World Relays 2015 with the 4 x 100 meter relay in the preliminary run and took second place in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the B final. At the Asian Championships in Wuhan , she finished fifth over 200 meters and won the silver medal with the 4 x 100 meter relay. At the World Championships in Beijing , she was eliminated from the 4 x 400 meter relay despite a new national record of 3: 28.91 minutes in advance . Two years later she was at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar in 23.68 s sixth over in the 200-meter run and won the bronze medal with the 4-by-400-meter relay.

In 2018 she again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and reached the semi-finals there in the 100-meter run , where she was eliminated with 12.01 seconds. In addition, she finished fifth in the Japanese relay in 44.93 s.

In 2017 Ichikawa became the Japanese 100 and 200 meter champion. She graduated from Chukyo University with a degree in physical education .
