The Canadian national futsal team is a representative sample of Canadian futsal players . The team represents the Canadian Football Association in international matches. The selection only appears sporadically.
Performing in tournaments
In 1985 and 1988 a Canadian team took part in the world championships of the Futsal Federation FIFUSA , but were eliminated in the group stage. At the invitation of FIFA, the Canadian Football Association sent a team to the first Futsal World Cup in the Netherlands in 1989 . The team consisted of Paul Dolan , Peter Sarantopoulos , Nick De Santis , Lyndon Hooper , Tony Nocita , Eddy Berdusco , Stan Siorovigas, Norm Odinga , Alex Bunbury , Lucio Ianiero , Doug Muirhead , Pat Harrington and John Fitzgerald for the most part from players from the Canadian national football team and some junior national players. After defeats against Belgium and Argentina and a 6-2 win over Japan, the tournament ended after the preliminary round.
For the next seven years, no Canadian futsal team took part in country comparisons, it was not until 1996 that a national team again represented the Canadian federation at a four-nation tournament in Australia. Again it took four years until the next appearance at a four-nation tournament in Brazil in 2000, the following years were regularly played international matches, this ended with the out against Panama in the qualification for the CONCACAF Futsal Championship 2004 . The team was last seen at the Grand Prix de Futsal in Brazil in 2007 and 2008 .
