history
The oldest sketch show on German television has been hosted by Veronika von Quast as Fräulein Vroni since 1986 . The first episode aired on January 10, 1987. In 2011 Kanal fatal celebrated its 25th anniversary and the 400th episode. At the same time, the format was discontinued.
concept
Between the moderations, the "fictional television station" showed some skits produced by BR itself, some were taken from other programs such as Grünwald Friday Comedy , Die Komiker and Sketchup .
Well-known cabaret artists and comedians had their first successes with Kanal fatal, including Monika Gruber in her role as waitress Monique , which she later developed into a cabaret solo program. In the early days of the series, Hape Kerkeling was seen as a paramedic, Willy Astor played a snob with crude sayings, Gabi Lodermeier the annoying secretary Veiglhofer and April Hailer a quiz assistant.
The brothers Elmar and Fritz Wepper appeared together on television for the first time in Zwei Bayern im Raum . The comedians Claudia Schlenger and Hanns Meilhamer were regular Sketch guests at Kanal fatal as Herbert and Schnipsi .
The running gag was Miss Vronis' help in life for single husbands who were abandoned by their "unspeakable" people. Until the last season, a mark of the "fictional TV station" was the beginning. The television flying out from the balcony of a farmhouse always marked the beginning of the program. The long version of the opening credits has been replaced by a shorter one.
Another running gag was the discussions with their respective assistants. This role has changed several times over the years. In the end it was Ms. Mayerhöfer who always strived to be accepted into the world of the beautiful and rich, but mostly failed in these efforts due to the circumstances or was prevented by Miss Vroni. Ms. Mayerhöfer also tried to always outgrow herself (e.g. participation in a biathlon race at Marienplatz), but this was often thwarted by Miss Vroni and Ms. Mayerhöfer had to more or less relegate herself to the role of eternal assistant.
Another highlight was that a beer was always drunk on the show, which, according to Miss Vroni, would be the best drink because it is isotonic. At the end of the program, Miss Vroni always invited her assistants to beer and roast pork. Most of the time, the guests had to pay, which turned into a running gag.
