The canton Escoma is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The canton ( Bolivian : Cantón) Escoma was until 2009 one of nine cantons of the then administrative district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Puerto Acosta in the province of Eliodoro Camacho . By law of 2009, the municipality of Puerto Acosta was divided into the three independent municipalities of Puerto Acosta , Escoma and Humanata , so that the canton of Escoma is now one of four cantons of the municipality of Escoma.

The canton Escoma borders in the northeast on the canton Chinaya 8 de Agosto, in the northwest on the canton Puerto Acosta and in the southwest on the canton Puerto Parajachi, all three in the municipality Puerto Acosta ; in the south to the canton of Villa Puni and the canton of Collasuyo in the municipality of Escoma ; in the southeast to the canton of Puerto Carabuco and the canton of San Miguel de Yaricoa in the municipality of Carabuco ; and in the east to the canton of Tajani in the Municipio Mocomoco .

The canton of Escoma is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between Lake Titicaca in the west and the Cordillera Muñecas in the east.
